Choosing Your Scent or Essence

Your MYO will have it's own particular scent or essence that is different from the others! To check if yours is taken or not, please check the masterlist.

 

If you choose Perfume, you are given a scent. If you choose Elixir, you are given an essence.

 

Perfume scents typically have no limit but if you're having trouble deciding on one, remember the scent staples: floral, earthy, musky, fruity, woody, oriental, etc.

 

You can even create scents that aren't realistic. Valindra's scent is 'The Jewel of the Violet Sea', so feel free to get creative! It's always a good idea, however, to incorporate the scent into your MYO design. Valindra's scent is incorporated with her purple hues and adorning gemstones. Another example is a cherry blossom-based scent--so incorporate cherry blossoms into the design!

 

Elixir essences are very different from scents as they serve more of a purpose than just to smell. An essence causes an effect on a user, usually beneficial. For example, Shanara's essence is to grant water breathing to a user for a limited time while in possession of her bottle.

 

This means essences can range from healing potions, invisibility granting, cure blindness, etc. You can get pretty creative with your essence as long as it has an effect on the person using it.

 

Elixir essences can also be a bit more simple such as being ingredients. These ingredients are always more 'mythical' in nature, never 'naturally occurring' on Earth. For example, a mythical or fantasy based ingredient could be something like 'dragon's blood'. However, something naturally caused can be tweaked to be made into an essence. Take a naturally occurring rainbow, but make it 'cosmic rainbows' and it becomes mythical!

 

As for incorporating your essence into your MYO design, it is also recommended. Shanara grants water breathing, but has something as simple as fins caused by the 'aquatic' trait to incorporate the essence.

 

As mentioned before in the bottles tab, no scent or essence that causes negative effects on the user are allowed.
